The 2021 League of Legends World Championship will be held in Europe instead of China, according to Upcomer. Originally reported by Upcomer and Dot Esports, the real problem arose for the Riot Games when the team had difficulty traveling for their team to China. In addition, the LCS is reportedly making visas to enter China as of Friday, August 20th.

This year, the World Championships are expected to take place in cities across China, including Shanghai, Qingdao, Wuhan, Chengdu and Shenzhen for different stages of the competition. This is also the second year in a row that the League of Legends World Championship has been held in China, with no live spectators in 2020, except for the grand finale, which is attended by fans.

The last Riot Games to be held in Europe was during the 2021 semi-finals, when the tournament took place in Iceland.
